About us
We are the Savonranta Lions Club, we started in 1967. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month, mostly at the Savonranta House.
Each Lions club selects its own projects. Many clubs are committed to local target groups, such as vulnerable young people or people with disabilities. They often choose projects that are aligned with core international themes (focuses): hunger, blindness/eye diseases (vision), childhood cancer, sustainable lifestyle, diabetes, youth, disaster relief and humanitarian aid. Lions take the initiative, encourage, organise and connect stakeholders. Not only do we organise fundraising events, we also roll up our sleeves. All this under our motto: Lions help!

With our donations we support Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). This fund provides structural support to people who do not have the financial resources to solve their problems themselves. LCIF also provides financial assistance during natural disasters around the world, especially in places where the need is greatest. As the needs grow every year due to climate change, so does the demand for assistance.
We are part of the Finnish Lions Organisation, The Finnish Lions Federation.
Benefits of joining a Lions Club
Joining a Lions club offers numerous benefits not only to the community, but also to the members themselves:
- Community service: membership offers numerous opportunities to give back to the community in meaningful ways.
- Personal growth: members develop leadership skills, public speaking and organisational management.
- Networking: Lions meet new people in their local community and can connect with an international network of service-minded people.
- Friendship and fun: despite their hard work, members enjoy social gatherings, meetings and forums.
This website was created in 2025 and 2026 to show the community who we are and what we do. It was created with the help of some members, Anna-Mari Käyhkö, Raija and Tarmo Heikkilä, and Esko Gustafsson.
I would like to warmly thank these members for their help. Thank you very much!
